Fountain pens
Fountain pens are a type of pen that uses a cartridge of ink to write. The ink flows through a metal nib and is applied onto the paper, making for an extremely smooth writing experience. They come in both disposable and refillable variances. Fountain pens are great for writing letters, taking notes or signing documents in a very stylish way. Most of the fountain pens give the user the option to use a wide range of nib sizes to customise the pen to their own writing style.
Fountain pens are popular because of their noble look and smooth as silk ink flow experience–they are a great way to make writing more special! They are also eco-friendly as most of the fountain pens are refillable and most of the ink bottles could be recycled and reused in a great manner!
To use a fountain pen, first fill it with ink. This can be done by either dipping the nib into an ink cartridge or by using a converter. Once it is filled, hold the pen at a 45-degree angle and write normally. You may need to apply more pressure when producing thicker letters or lines. Apply soft to medium pressure for best results.
Ballpoint Pen
A ballpoint pen uses a small rolling ball to disperse ink onto paper. The ink used in ballpoint pens is oil based and was originally designed as a cleaner, more reliable alternative to fountain pens. This type of pen is widely available and cheaper than most of the types of the pens. Ballpoint pens could easily fulfil your daily tasks such as taking notes, filling out forms or signing checks. They are also artists and designer-friendly because the pens allow for a wide range of shading.
Ballpoint pens come in various tip sizes. The most common ballpoint tips are a medium tip that is about 1.0 mm or a fine tip which is about 0.7 mm.
To fully utilise your ballpoint pen on hand, hold it at a near 90-degree angle to the paper and apply soft to medium pressure. For the best results, try to use light touch when writing.
Gel Pens
Gel pens are a type of pen that uses pigment ink that is stored in a cartridge in which the ink is thick and opaque and tends to bubble on the surface before soaking ink, giving off a high-quality experience but also a slower drying time. Gel pens tend to have a variety choices of colours and are great for taking notes, drawing, sketching, or writing in a journal. However, due to its characteristics, gel pens tend to run out of ink fast and have to be refilled more frequently and as the ink isn't directly absorbed by paper when writing, they have a longer drying time.
The tip size on gel ink pens typically range between 0.5 mm and 0.7 mm.
To use a gel pen, remove the cap and hold the pen at an 45-degree angle. Apply light pressure for thin lines and medium pressure for thicker lines. Remember, do not keep the pen in the same position for a long time because the pen will leave tiny puddles of ink on your paper!
Rollerball Pen
Rollerball pens use a water-based ink, similar to gel pen and also a ballpoint pen style writing mechanism in which the ink is thinner and provides a smoother writing experience. Rollerball pens are great for everyday tasks such as taking notes and signing checks. They are also great in drawing and sketching. As the ink does soak into papers, you have to take note not to leave the pen in the same position for a long time because the ink will soak into the next pages.
The tip size on gel ink pens typically range between 0.3mm and 0.7 mm.
To fully utilise your rollerball pen, hold the pen at a 90-degree angle to the paper and apply medium pressure. For the best results, use a light touch when writing. For drawing and sketching purposes, apply more pressure for thicker lines.
